JOHN SPILLANE
In the past months John
Spillane has toured America, Germany and sold out
Vicar Street
performing on a double bill with one of his musical heroes Christy Moore.
In the
intimate setting of the Folk Club, John’s performances shimmer with the magic
realism that permeates many of his songs as he effortlessly flits between
beautiful poetry tinged with melancholy to roguish, irreverent Cork humour.
Whether you‘re a regular to de Barras or just passing through, this gig should
never be missed,

SEAMUS BEGLEY & TIM EDEY,
Seamus
Begley comes from Baile ngall or Ballydavid on the Dingle peninsula and is a
legend in Irish music. His partnership with the incredible Australian/Irish
guitarist+producer Steve Cooney led to arguably the most exciting duet in Irish
music ever and the album "Meiteal" is still considered a classic worldwide.
Seamus has a voice from the gods and his accordion style has been copied by many
box players for its remarkable energy, soul and power which many people believe
is unmatched in traditional Irish music. After Begley+Cooney went seperate ways
in 1999 Seamus formed a duet with the fine Macroom guitarist Jim Murray and the
duet still tour, record together and have just released their second album.
Tim Edey at 29 years old
is regarded by many as one of the finest guitarists+multi-instrumentalists in
the Celtic music scene having played, toured and recorded with most of the
biggest names in the Celtic music scene including; Michael McGoldrick, Lunasa,
Mary Black, Sharon Shannon, Frankie Gavin, Session A9, Capercaillie's Donald
Shaw+Charlie McKerron, Altan, Steve Cooney. Tim is currently playing with the
Sharon Shannon band, and plays in a duet with Isobel Crowe and regularly with
Michael McGoldrick, Brendan Power, Lucy Randall and Charlie McKerron.
Tim's guitar style is
hugely influenced by his father Richard, Steve Cooney, Django, and Ed Boyd, his
own approach to playing traditional music was set to be pretty special from the
start. Tim loves improvising and has often been described as an Irish jazzer! A
mixture of dazzling technical ability and soulful feel have made Tim a highly
sought after session musician both in the studio and on stage. Tim has a new
solo album out soon and it will feature his own box playing which is unique on
the d/g diatonic English melodoen system and features Brendan power on
harmonica.

Karma
Parking are an original reggae/rock/funk fusion band based in the republic of
Ireland. With a singer from France and a drummer from Zimbabwe, Karma Parking
are a melting pot of cultures and influences, the result of which is a
distinctive sound, unbound to any one genre. Though they all profess a diverse
range of influences, each member brings his own musical penchant to the band: Ed
provides the funk, Julien the reggae, Damien the blues and Jono's drumming is
steeped in African influences. “The general idea is to get people dancing and
having a good time”, they say and they invariably succeed in this endeavour.
Their music is predominantly lively, imbued with optimism, inspiring audiences
to enjoy themselves and get up and dance. 'Boogaloo' is their second album after

Originally begun as a solo
project by Steve Ryan (giveamanakick) in 2005, ‘windings’ has grown over the
last 5 years to envelope Liam Marley, Aaron Mulhall, Patrick O Brien and Stephen
Purcell into the fold. A new album (recorded by Tommy McLaughlin-Villagers,
giveamanakick, Cathy Davey) is finally recorded, mixed, mastered, and will be
released Oct 2010. Since then and now ‘windings’ have been honing their dynamic
combination of lo-fi acoustic melodies, Scuzzy rock, woozy instrumentals,
ambient electronic pieces, pure pop & dirgy almost-metal , into a truly original
and invigorating listening experience.
windings have had the
pleasure of playing with the likes of Daniel Johnston, Smog/Bill Callahan, The
